Will I see change on the first appointment?

Change after the first counselling appointment varies for each individual. Some people feel immediate relief simply by expressing their thoughts and emotions in a safe, supportive environment. Others may gain new insights or a sense of hope after their initial session. However, deeper, lasting change typically requires ongoing sessions, as therapy is a process of self-exploration and growth. The first appointment is an important step towards progress, setting the foundation for meaningful transformation over time.

What can I expect in my first counselling session?

In the first counselling session, expect a welcoming and confidential space to discuss your concerns. The counsellor will ask about your background, current challenges, and what you hope to achieve from therapy. It’s an opportunity to explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace, without pressure. The session may also include discussing how counselling works, setting goals, and addressing any questions you have. This initial meeting is about building trust and ensuring you feel comfortable moving forward in the therapeutic process.

How do I know if counselling is working?

You may know counselling is working when you start noticing positive changes in your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. This can include feeling more in control of your emotions, gaining new insights about yourself, or handling challenges with greater ease. Improved relationships, better coping strategies, and a sense of progress towards your goals are also signs that therapy is effective. Change can be gradual, so reflecting on how you felt at the start compared to now can help assess progress. Open discussions with your counsellor can also provide clarity on your growth and next steps.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of counselling sessions needed varies depending on individual circumstances, goals, and the nature of the issues being addressed. Some people benefit from short-term therapy, typically around 6 to 12 sessions, while others may require longer-term support for deeper personal growth and complex challenges. The counsellor will assess progress over time and adjust the approach accordingly. Regular reviews ensure that therapy remains effective and aligned with individual needs.

Can I get a refund if I need to cancel?

Full refund is offered if cancellations are made 48 hours in advance. Late cancellations or missed appointments incur a charge and it’s non-refundable.
